SEO is search engine optimisation. It is a process of increasing the quality and the quantity of visitors going to a website from a search engine. Why do you build websites using WordPress?
I have been building websites for a long time and have used HTML mainly, but there are a few reasons that I now prefer using WordPress for the majority of the websites I produce.
1. WordPress is very popular and is being updated constantly. This means there is a strong following and a secure future for WordPress.
2. WordPress is highly customisable, which is very useful when a customer asks for a specific problem to be solved.
3. Google and Bing seem to love WordPress. Because it is a blogging platform every time a new article is published it is soon recognised by the search engines.
4. Hundreds of WordPress themes and plugins are available and you can also build your own themes if you wish.
What is a WordPress theme?
A WordPress theme is developed to change the layout and design of a website including typography and colour. Themes customize the appearance of a site and can make a massive difference to how accessible your website will be. Every theme is different and each theme designer decides what are the most important options to include. I only use themes that load quickly with very little code like the Schema WordPress Theme. Website download speed and accessibility are the two most important things I consider when I choose a theme. If the website takes more than a few seconds to load then you are going to lose a lot of customers.
